Jane graduated from York St John University in 2010 with a BA degree in performance. This culminated in her one-woman show Handbags and Herstory which she devised and performed for Create 10. More recently Jane has performed the role of Solange in Jean Genet’s The Maids, and also taken part in Leeds Emerge festival performing with Red Ladder.

As well as performing, for the past four years Jane has been working in schools directing young people in school productions. She believes that every child grows at a different pace, and even the smallest development which might seem insignificant to the masses, can be a massive individual accomplishment.

Jane also works as a producer and associate director with Out of Character, a York-based theatre company made up of mental health service users. The company produce work about issues relating to mental health either directly or indirectly, tackling the stigma and discrimination faced by people with lived experience of mental ill health, ‘claiming the territory between inspiration and medication’.
