Children’s Arts Award Pilot Success

29 Jun 09

Last week, C&T and students from Blakedown Primary School in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, attended the Regional Arts Award Children’s Pilot celebration at Birmingham Town Hall to receive certificates for successful completion of the project.

A collaboration between Arts AwardTelford Culture Zone,Worcestershire County CouncilBright Space and Birmingham City Council, nearly 1000 children, aged 7-11, have grown their creativity through the arts. The largest single group in the Pilot, C&T worked with 40 students from two of our partner Primary schools.

Each child completed a creative portfolio of evidence about

  • participating in arts events
  • exploring the arts
  • researching a favourite artist
  • taking the lead

The standard of work the children produced was exceptional and some of it will be used by the Pilot team as part of a national case study.

Children who participated in the project will move onto the bronze arts award at secondary school. The project has clearly helped the children build confidence in their own creative ideas, learn new skills and become independent, ambitious, cultural learners.
